Oslo Opera House, Norway.

The Oslo Opera house is considered by many as the most iconic modern building of Scandinavia. The construction of the building is said to have cost about half a billion Euros and it resembles a glacier floating on the Oslofjord giving an illusion of the building rising from the water. It is located on the waterfront of the Oslofjord and opposite the central train station.

We got off at  the central station which is a few meters away from the Opera House and a walking distance. First sight of the Opera House and its magnificent!. The building overlooks the waterfront and features an exterior of white facciata italian marble. It then has a huge Ramp that goes all the way to the terrace of the building without entering the opera. On the front of the building there is a 15 meter high glass facade going all way up the ramp and serves as a lamp illuminating the outer surfaces at night.

While there you must walk up to the roof or top of the building which is a beautiful magnificent carpet of marble patchwork. From there you can look down and over the Oslofjord and if you are lucky like we were you could even a ship or ferry.   We spent some precious moments walking around enjoying the beauty and taking pictures. As we were pressed for time we did not go inside the Opera house, but some day we hope to come back and watch some Opera and Ballet performances which according to their website cost between 100kr- 745kr.
